For many the end of the regular season and the turn of the New Year brings an end to the fantasy football season.  The 2007 fantasy season will forever be remembered for the high octane Patriots.  Tom Brady throwing for 50 TD's, 23 of which went to Randy Moss.  Both all-time records for their positions.  It makes LaDanian Tomlinson's 18 scores look almost pedestrian.

While the Patriots season is one we'll be talking forever, it's important to not lose sight of what else happened in 2007.  It was the year of the Wide Receivers, several of whom broke out in grand style and should be given heavy consideration in the early rounds of next years draft.  Braylon Edwards (16 TD's), T.J Houshmanzadeh (12 TD's), Greg Jennings (12 TD's) and Reggie Wayne (104 receptions, 1500+ yards, 10 TD's) have catapulted themselves into possible first round fantasy studs for 2008.

The Wide Receiver revolution has put an even bigger value on having a top end fantasy Running Back.  Just two RB's (Tomlinson & Addai) found the endzone 15 times or more in 2007 compared to six who did it in 2006.  But with breakout seasons from Adrian Peterson, Ryan Grant, Marion Barber and Marshawn Lynch there is hope for the future.

The reality is to be competitive in 2008 you will have to remember more than just the final stats of 2007.  The NFL is always changing and so too is fantasy football.  New players, coaches and schemes are being designed in every offseason.  Next year somebody will find a way to stop the Patriots.  Guaranteed.  There will be a new rookie class coming in and many new Head Coaches and Offensive Coordinators as well.  This year's goats can be next years heroes.  Remember Randy Moss & Jamal Lewis after last season?  Exactly.  So, go watch the playoffs, enjoy Super Bowl XLII.  And pay attention when these new Head Coaches and Offensive Coordinators are hired.  These moves are key in predicting the fantasy seasons of many NFL players.
